Because of tough lockdowns in Germany. “In the last week alone we sorted and delivered 56 million packages.”
The parcel delivery company Deutsche Post DHL expects a higher volume of parcels this year against the background of the second hard lockdown in Germany that begins on Wednesday.
“In the last week alone we sorted and delivered 56 million parcels – significantly more than ever before in our company's history,” said the group's parcel board, Tobias Meyer, of the editorial network in Germany (RND / Wednesday edition).
Due to the increased volume in this year's Christmas season, the company is expecting growth rates of around 15 to 20 percent compared to the same period in the previous year, said a group spokeswoman. For 2020 as a whole, this means an expected parcel volume of around 1.8 billion shipments.
