Five people were shot dead in the US state of South Carolina. The perpetrator is said to be former NFL player Phillip Adams.
The victims were a doctor, his wife and two grandchildren aged five and nine, the police said. A 38-year-old man who worked in the family home was also shot dead.
After a manhunt, the alleged perpetrator could be identified. As the news agency AP writes, it should be the former NFL player Phillip Adams. The 32-year-old is said to have killed himself after the fact, according to an AP source. Adams' parents are said to live near the family who were killed.
Adams played in college for South Carolina State. In the 2010 draft, the defender was drawn in the 7th round by the San Francisco 49ers. In total, Adams was on the field in 52 NFL games. He also played in the league for the New England Patriots and the Oakland Raiders. He was also in the ranks of the New York Jets, the Seattle Seahawks and the Atlanta Falcons.
Adams made over $ 3 million in his career. However, the defender did not make the big jump. The 32-year-old was last on the field in 2013.
Just hours before the shooting in South Carolina, another former NFL player was involved in a shootout in Florida. Travis Rudolph (25), who was drafted by the New York Giants in 2017 and currently plays for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in Canada, was arrested for murder. He is said to have shot a man and seriously injured another.
