A US court dismissed a libel suit by the headquarters of US President Donald Trump against CNN journalists. RIA Novosti reports.
CNN authors suggested that Trump was assessing the risks and benefits of re-asking Russia to interfere in the presidential election. Trump's staff considered these allegations to be libel and tried to challenge them. However, the court decided that the malicious intent of the journalists had not been proven.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called statements about Moscow's interference in the US elections as nonsense. According to Zakharova, this topic “is already more of the category of black humor.”
Russia has been repeatedly accused of interfering in the 2016 US elections. Local journalists and officials claimed that “Russian hackers” had stolen Democratic correspondence and published it on the Internet, and also tried to infiltrate the electronic counting system.
