The situation in Soledar is now difficult, only in the previous day the enemy carried out 106 attacks, 22 clashes took place in the city.

This was told by the speaker of the Eastern group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Cherevaty on the air of the telethon. He stressed that, in spite of everything, the Ukrainian defenders are holding the line.

There are fierce battles in Soledar. 106 shellings in this direction were carried out by the enemy during the day, 22 clashes took place. Direct measures are being taken to prevent the enemy from advancing further, systemic strikes are being delivered from our side. Cherevaty said.

According to him, yesterday additional forces and means were allocated in this direction.

“Soledar is under constant control. I think that by joint efforts it will be possible to stabilize the situation,” Cherevaty added.

How to change the onset of frosty weather

He also expressed the hope that the frosty weather will allow the use of heavy equipment: tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers – therefore, this will contribute to the counteroffensive.

Update on the situation at Soledar

• Yesterday, January 8, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anna Malyar also said that now Soledar is very difficult: the occupiers have concentrated considerable efforts in order to reach the borders of the Donetsk region, at least for propaganda purposes.
• Russian troops have been storming Soledar since December 27. Putin's “penal battalions” from the Wagner PPK and Russian airborne troops are trying to knock out the city, which is defended by the 46th airmobile brigade.
• The invaders planned to bypass Soledar from the South, but it did not work out and the movement stopped. Our troops stopped the enemy along the water pipeline running from Slavyansk to Donetsk. Therefore, the Russians are trying to take Soledar or move a little to the North of it. And from the North go to Bakhmut.
