An arrhythmia attack can be stopped independently and without medication using a simple breathing technique. This was announced by Andrey Syrov, head of the cardiology department of the Consultative and Diagnostic Center No. 6 of the Moscow Department of Health, on the air of the Moscow Talking radio station.
The cardiologist spoke about a specific type of arrhythmia – supraventricular tachycardia. It occurs in people at a young age and continues throughout life. According to Syrov, an attack of such an arrhythmia appears suddenly, and the heart begins to beat at a frequency of 150-160 beats per minute.
“You can interrupt this attack with the so-called vagal intake, when a person takes a deep breath, holds his breath and strains a lot,” the doctor said. He called this method effective for normalizing heart rate at home.
On July 22, it was reported that American scientists have proven the benefits of coffee for the prevention of arrhythmias. As a result of the study, experts found that the popular opinion about the dangers of coffee for the cardiovascular system is unfounded. According to scientists, each additional cup of coffee during the day reduces the risk of arrhythmia by three percent.
