A draft law on recognizing Belarus as a “singing aggressor” has been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. This means that property belonging to Belarusian legal entities on the territory of Ukraine may be confiscated.
The corresponding text of the bill No. 7411 has already appeared on the website of the Verkhovna Rada. It was registered on May 26.
It also mentions the planned introduction of special economic measures against Belarus. According to international law, Belarus is an aggressor because it voluntarily provided its territory for the Russian armed forces to commit acts of aggression against Ukraine.
Threat of missile strikes from Belarus
It should be noted that the other day the aggressor moved the Iskander-M OTRK division to the Brest region – 50 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. In general, in the Volyn and Polesie directions, the Belarusian military continues to carry out tasks to cover the common border in the Brest and Gomel regions.
Pay attention!From the very beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has been using the territory of Belarus to launch missiles. It was estimated that at the beginning of May, at least 631 rockets were fired from there.
In addition, military exercises continued in Belarus on the border with Ukraine and Western states. They will last at least until May 28. Experts do not exclude the possibility of an offensive from Belarus due to pressure from the Kremlin. However, according to Ukrainian intelligence, participation in the war against Ukraine is unpopular among the Belarusian military.
What income did companies associated with Russia and Belarus receive in Ukraine
Companies associated with the aggressor received a total income of 198 billion hryvnias in 2020 in Ukraine. We are talking about companies whose shareholders, founders and ultimate owners include at least one citizen or resident of Russia or Belarus. This means that at least part of this income goes to the aggressor state and its supporters. About 31,000 Russians and Belarusians are owners, founders or shareholders of businesses in Ukraine:
- at least 4,630 of these individuals are ultimate beneficial owners from Russia;
- and 1,589 are ultimate beneficial owners from Belarus.
A total of 21,028 companies were found to have ties to Russia or Belarus.
Previously, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on the forced seizure of property of the Russian state, property of legal entities that are ultimate beneficiaries, direct or indirect. This will be done without any compensation.
