A Japanese is the new coach at Wacker Innsbruck

When looking for a successor to Daniel Bierofka, FC Wacker Innsbruck found what they were looking for in their own ranks. Masaki Morass is promoted to head coach of the second division, the 42-year-old Japanese most recently looked after Innsbruck's two-man team in the Tyrol Regionalliga. For the time being, Morass will only sit on the bench until winter.

“As the club's board of directors, we are firmly convinced that his personality is the right man for the current situation and we believe that the team under him can reach their full potential League games will rely on an internal interim solution, “said sports director Alfred Hörtnagl.

Morass has had an eventful career. He was an interpreter at Red Bull Salzburg, later co-trainer of Volker Finke at Urawa Reds and Thorsten Fink at Vissel Kobe. The Japanese also acted as head coach of the Wacker women's team. “Our task is to ensure calm with our way of working and to get the maximum out of the next six games. I see great potential in the team and that needs to be harnessed – then I am convinced that we will be successful together,” says Morass .
