The Russian space film crew, which consists of actress Yulia Peresild, director Klim Shipenko, and cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky, has returned from Earth. He arrived on the descent vehicle of the manned transport spacecraft Yu.A. Gagarin “(” Soyuz MS-18 “). Peresild and Shipenko spent 12 days on the International Space Station.

On October 16 at 00:54 (Moscow time) Peresild, Novitsky and Shipenko said goodbye to the cosmonauts and foreign astronauts who remained on the ISS and closed the hatches between the Nauka module and the Soyuz MS-18 spacecraft. Before leaving, Novitsky said that all the participants in the flight were doing well. “There is order on board … We feel pretty good,” he said on the air of the Roskosmos broadcast.

The ship “Yu.A. Gagarin “separated from the Russian segment of the station at 04:14:05 Moscow time. At 07:35:44 Moscow time, he landed 148 km southeast of the Kazakh city of Zhezkazgan. Actress Julia Peresild said that the landing was successful.

“Oleg is great. It's not scary with him…. I do not know. In fact, I am in a slightly sad mood today, because it seemed to us that 12 days was a lot, and when it was all over, I didn't want to leave. After all, it is clear that it was only once, ”she said on the air of Channel One.

The head of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, praised the organization and flight of the film crew “on a solid five.”

“This is a colossal amount of work. We are glad that the crew is doing well, well, and satisfactory. The ship did not fall on its side, which is also convenient from the point of view of crew extraction. Everything is fine, for a solid five, ”he said.

What was the star crew doing in space?

The film crew arrived on the ISS on October 5 to shoot the film The Challenge. In the story, a girl doctor flies into orbit to rescue an astronaut. In addition to Peresild and Shipenko, the crew included cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov.

The film “Challenge” will be the first film shot not in the pavilion, but in space. For this, the Soyuz MS-19 board was re-equipped so that one person could operate it. The device is equipped with portable consoles, which were controlled by Shkaplerov. He has already flown to the ISS three times and spent about one and a half years in orbit, while he went into outer space twice.

“Now the task was to prepare an actress and director for the shooting of a feature film for the flight. But it is possible that in the future we will be able to quickly train a doctor or a person of another specialty, for example, to assist the crew or personally participate in some important experiment on the ISS, ”Shkaplerov said at the prelaunch press conference.

Before the flight, the filmmakers passed an exam on the knowledge of emergency situations that they may encounter on board a rocket or on the ISS.

“Of course, space changes lives. Many were forced to learn unknown abbreviations, they squeezed all the juices out of us. It was hard, difficult, little time, little sleep, ”admitted production director Klim Shipenko.

The crew went to the ISS on an ultra-short circuit. This was necessary so as not to spend a lot of time on the adaptation of the crew to new conditions when working in zero gravity, explained Dmitry Rogozin, general director of Roscosmos.

The state corporation hopes that the film “Challenge” will become part of a large scientific and educational project. In the future, a series of documentaries will be filmed about enterprises in the rocket and space industry and specialists who are involved in the production of launch vehicles, spaceships, and ground space infrastructure. The project will demonstrate that space flights are becoming available not only for professionals, and will popularize Russia's space activities and the cosmonaut profession.
