In 2021, Microsoft will release a special version of Windows for budget computers. This is reported by the Windows Latest edition.
The journalists found out that the operating system for PCs with two screens – Windows 10X – will have a special version designed for weak computers. This system was developed under the name Windows Lite, but in the end, the corporation's managers decided to abandon it. The OS is based on Windows Core OS and differs from other Microsoft operating systems by the absence of a Start menu. Instead, the Quick Launch for Applications and Services will be centered on the desktop.
Also, the new OS has a brighter and more contrasting interface design and some design differences. Windows 10X is optimized for devices with up to four gigabytes of RAM. It is reported that in the future, the operating system will support computers with more RAM capacity. It will also likely receive support for Windows Universal Drivers.
The first versions of the lightweight OS will appear in the spring of 2021 and will have support for only one screen. Microsoft will then release an operating system that supports multiple desktops. It is reported that Windows 10X will boot “out of the box” on computers of Microsoft partners, that is, it will not be possible to install the system legally on other PCs.
In October, information appeared on the network that Microsoft's operating system for devices with two screens will appear in the spring of 2021. At first, the OS will be designed for computers with one display, the release of a full version for PCs with multiple screens will not happen until 2022. The release of Windows 10X was expected at the end of the year, but a delay became known in the summer.
