According to the Altai-Sayan branch, earthquakes in Kuzbass are mainly associated with intensive mining operations – the excavation and movement of large volumes of rock leads to a redistribution of stresses in the earth's crust. As a rule, the foci of such earthquakes are located at shallow depths.
