A Russian agent who was collecting intelligence for the Russian Federation was detained at the German airport in Munich.
At Munich airport arrested a German citizen on suspicion of high treason. The suspect conspired with an intelligence official to pass intelligence to Russia.
This is reported by Reuters.
The man, identified as Arthur E., was arrested on Sunday, January 22, upon arrival in Germany from the United States. He is allegedly close to Karsten L., an employee of the German Foreign Intelligence Service, who was arrested in December on suspicion of spying for Russia.
According to preliminary information, Artur E., who is not a member of German intelligence, handed over to Russian intelligence information received from Carten L. On Monday, January 23, Arthur E. was already brought before a judge of the highest criminal court of Germany and was taken into custody.
According to the prosecutor, the investigation was carried out in close cooperation with German foreign intelligence and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Recall that at the end of December, Carsten L., an employee of the German Federal Intelligence Service, was arrested on suspicion of espionage and transferring state secret information to Russia this year.
