Information about the death of an American defended by Ukraine was confirmed by the US State Department. Russian killers reported these defenders, but they were not confirmed.

The US State Department noted that they did not release the name of the military man.

“We can confirm the death of a US citizen in Ukraine. Out of respect for the privacy of the family, we have no comments,” the State Department said.

Losses in the war

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny announced on August 22 that 9,000 Ukrainian defenders died in the war with Russia. He said this at the “Defenders. Roll Call” forum.

A volunteer will be judged in Italy

In the city of Genoa, the prosecutor's office announced the suspicion of 19-year-old Italian Kevin Chiappalone because he fought on the side of the Armed Forces. Kevin was in the International Legion. The deputy prosecutor of Genoa, Marco Zocco, called him a mercenary. Chiappalone faces up to seven years in prison.

The investigation began after the military gave an interview. There, Kevin justified his choice to defend Ukraine because of Putin's statement about “denazification”.

The investigation found that the guy had no previous military experience. He arrived in Ukraine in May, underwent military training and ended up in the East of Ukraine.

The Italian prosecutor's office announced that only Chiappalone was suspected. However, investigators believe that other citizens can also fight, and in Italy there is a “network of recruiters”.
