Apple has improved older iPhones

An iOS update has improved the quality of video calls on iPhone. This is reported by the MacMagazine edition.

The journalists of the publication noticed that in November Apple updated the pages of some smartphone models on its website. The company added to the description of new and some older devices that they support video transmission via FaceTime at 1080p. For iPhone 12, this permission is set when using Wi-Fi and 5G, for other devices – only Wi-Fi.

Judging by the description, the new function is available on all Apple smartphones, starting with the iPhone 8 released in 2017. Journalists noticed that, in particular, this information was not displayed on the iPhone XR page until November 4, and then appeared. The authors believe that support for 1080p resolution became available on Apple devices with the iOS 14.2 update.

The note says the changes in video quality are “very significant.” The updated FaceTime video calling app is available only on the iPhone, the iPad retains the same resolution.

Earlier, Apple added new features to Russian users' watches – ECG and irregular heart rate notifications – through an update. To activate them, you need to update your Apple Watch to watchOS 7.1 and install the iOS 14.2 update on your iPhone.
