Armenian Prosecutor General's Office opened a criminal case over the crash of Mi-24

The General Prosecutor's Office of Armenia opened a criminal case after the crash of the Russian Mi-24 helicopter, according to the agency's website.

The preliminary investigation of the case is being conducted by the Armenian Investigative Committee, the message says. Investigators and law enforcement officers of Armenia are working at the scene.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation confirmed that the Mi-24 was subjected to fire from the ground from MANPADS at about 17.30 Moscow time on November 9. The incident took place in the airspace near the Armenian settlement of Yeraskh near the border of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic. As a result of the incident, two crew members were killed. Azerbaijan admitted that the country's army accidentally shot down a Russian Mi-24 helicopter.
