Arrest warrant for Putin: Serbian President saw signs of the start of World War III
The Serbian leader stressed that his country's position should be not to participate in “foreign conflicts.”
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, having learned about the decision of the International Criminal Court in The Hague to issue an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin in connection with crimes in Ukraine, announced the escalation of the conflict, which could lead to World War III.
This is reported by the Serbian edition of Telegraf.
Vučić received a message about the arrest warrant for Putin on his phone during his trip to different regions of the country. He commented on this in a speech to the inhabitants of Sremska Mitrovica in northern Serbia.
“The world is sliding into an additional escalation of the conflict. Both [Russia and the West] will play for everything or nothing. The West wants to put additional pressure on everyone who has not been the most categorical against the Russian Federation. I am aware of the situation we will face… We are not far from the beginning of World War III,” the Serbian leader said.
Vučić stressed that his country's position should be to avoid involvement in “foreign conflicts.”
“My job is to be heartless if necessary to protect our children, that's my job and I will stick to that job. We have many examples of irresponsible behavior in history. We have always been emotional. Everything changed on February 24 last year, and today it turned upside down again. They [Russia and the West] will play until they are destroyed. For us, the only salvation is not to participate in anything,” he said.
Recall, the International Criminal Court in The Hague issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian children's rights commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova for committing a war crime – the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky believes that the warrant of the Hague court for the arrest of Putin has a real prospect.
