Astronomers intercept a strange signal from the center of the Milky Way

Australia's ASKAP radio telescope has detected a strange signal emanating from the center of our galaxy. These are radio waves that astronomers could not identify, reports Vechernyaya Moskva.

Scientists have never encountered anything like it before. The source of the signals also remained unclear.

Probably, the signal indicates the presence of space objects of a completely new class. These objects, judging by the information received by the radio telescope, were at first invisible, then gained brightness, then disappeared and reappeared. This behavior is not typical of stars or black holes.

Scientists noted that the signal was interrupted and then resumed in an arbitrary way, and the brightness of the object changed about a hundred times during the observations. At first, they thought it was a pulsar, a special type of dead star, or a star that emits powerful flares. But these theories have not been confirmed.

An attempt to detect an object in the visible spectrum was unsuccessful. Moreover, the behavior of the signal changed – it began to disappear quickly, whereas before it could be recorded for several weeks. Scientists hope that next-generation radio telescopes, soon to be operational, will help uncover this mystery.

Earlier it was reported that astronomers have caught radio signals from 19 distant stars. Signals can indicate the presence of planets around them.
