After the Russian attack on Ukraine, the two sides held several rounds of negotiations. The Russian side behaved down on them from the very beginning

One of the representatives of the Ukrainian delegation at the talks with Russia is the head of the Servant of the People faction in the Verkhovna Rada, David Arakhamia. He told how the first negotiations went on February 28.

At the beginning of the negotiations, there was just a desire to get up from the table and leave. Since the demands were very ultimatum, – said Arakhamia.

Then the Russians continued to demand “the denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine”, as well as the recognition of Crimea as Russian territory. They demonstrated such self-confidence, still believing that they could “take Kyiv in two days.” However, even then the Ukrainian army inflicted significant losses on the enemy, and civilians drove the occupiers out of their cities.

Why did they stay in the negotiations

According to Arakhamia, despite the desire of the Ukrainian delegation after the demands of the Russians to leave these negotiations, they stayed. All because of the task that had been set before them.

“When we went to the first round of negotiations, we asked the President what we would consider a successful result. And the task was set that a successful the result will be a feeling that the Russian Federation should return home and report to its president that these people can be talked to and they can consider something. And when there was a desire to get up and leave, we said based on this: , we will provide some counterpositions.” That is, we completed our task for the first round,” David Arakhamia said.

Ukraine and Russia continue negotiations, and military operations on the territory of Ukraine continue.
