Babariko was shocked from Minsk to the colony
Former chairman of the board of Belgazprombank Viktor Babariko was convoyed to a colony in the Vitebsk region, according to his official Telegram channel.
Earlier it was reported that he was transferred from the KGB pre-trial detention center to pre-trial detention center No. 1 in Minsk after the announcement of the verdict.
On Monday, Viktor Babariko's defenders turned to SIZO-1 in Minsk to meet with him, but they said that the defendant had been transported to IK-1 in the city of Novopolotsk.
On July 6, Viktor Babariko, ex-chairman of the board of Belgazprombank, was sentenced to 14 years in a maximum security colony and a fine. The state prosecution previously requested a 15-year prison sentence for the former contender for the presidency of the republic and the ex-chairman of the bank's board.
We will remind, Babariko resigned his powers in the bank in May last year in connection with the decision to run for the post of the head of Belarus. However, he was not registered as a candidate and at the time of the consideration of this issue in the CEC was already in custody on charges of economic crimes.
The banker was charged with laundering funds obtained by criminal means, as well as accepting a bribe on an especially large scale. According to the version of the investigation, under the leadership of Babariko, an organized criminal group operated on the basis of Belgazprombank, which was withdrawing finances abroad.
