US President Joe Biden called the January 2021 Capitol riots an attempted coup, and the protesters a brutal gang inspired by former President Donald Trump. Biden's speech was made during a speech in Atlanta, quoted by Reuters.
“The brutal gang, which was supported and inspired by the defeated former president, on January 6, 2021, sought by violence to get what Trump lost during the election,” the politician said. Biden also said that he gathered his supporters in order to resist “the forces that attempted a coup.”
In addition, the President spoke in favor of changing the rules for conducting debates in the US Senate in order to avoid deliberately dragging out debates (filibuster procedures).
