Biden will meet with George Floyd's family on the anniversary of his death
US President Joe Biden is going to host in the White House the family of African American George Floyd, who died a year ago after being arrested by the police in Minneapolis, writes USA Today .
Biden, along with Floyd's relatives, will celebrate the anniversary of his death. Guests are expected to be flown to Washington DC.
We will remind, African American George Floyd died on May 25, 2020 after he was detained by police officer Derek Shovin. The officer pressed the suspect with his knee to the ground, and the detainee shouted “I can't breathe.” Eyewitnesses filmed what was happening on their phones. Floyd died in the hospital a few hours later. His death sparked violent unrest in the country and sparked the riots that led to the creation of the Black Lives Matter movement.
