Black Sea is decisive theater of war between Russia and Ukraine - NYT

In the West, they note that the Black Sea has become an arena of Ukrainian defiance. Despite the fact that the Russian fleet dominated, the aggressor state does not achieve success.

Western analysts note that the Black Sea is an important theater of war. In particular, Russian warships fired a series of cruise missiles at Ukrainian targets from there.

Ukrainians are regularly warned of attacks when missile carriers appear in the Black Sea. Now, however, the importance of the sea where the American drone crashed goes beyond military competition and concerns the geopolitical and economic interests of Ukraine and Russia. Moreover, there is an important connection between the ports and the Mediterranean Sea.

Note! The United States reported that a Russian Su-27 fighter jet damaged an American reconnaissance strike UAV MQ-9 Reaper over the Black Sea during an intercept. As a result of damage, the drone had to be flooded.

The material of the publication says that the trade route is so important for both countries that it became a rare point of agreement during the war. An agreement reached last July, brokered by Turkey and the United Nations, established a corridor for the courts.

Arena of defiance of Ukrainians

The Russian fleet has dominated the Black Sea for years, notably the aggressor state illegally annexed Crimea in 2014.

After a full-scale invasion, Russia deployed its navy off the coast of Ukraine, effectively blocking Ukrainian ships in the port. Despite this, the sea was an arena of Ukrainian defiance.
