The United States and NATO are ready to continue to support Ukraine against the background of the Russian threat to ensure its protection. This was stated by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in Geneva on January 21.
– Ukraine is not a member of NATO, it does not fall under our obligations under Article 5 (on collective protection of alliance members, – Ed.), but we will do everything possible to protect it and prevent Russian aggression,” Blinken said.
He added that the Russian Federation has made it clear that Western countries will continue to support Ukraine.
– We are working on the situation in close contact with our allies and have made it clear to Russia about the consequences in the event of a new aggression against Ukraine. This is an important component of Russia’s deterrence. In parallel, we are helping Ukraine by providing defense weapons, allies and partners are doing the same,” the Secretary of State added.
