British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has promised to be vaccinated against the coronavirus with the AstraZeneca vaccine. RIA Novosti reports his words at a press conference.
“It is important that we all get vaccinated as quickly as possible. And I will receive my vaccination tomorrow, ”the prime minister said. He noted that the vaccination center where he will do this uses the drug from AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford.
Earlier, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) concluded that the vaccine of the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca is safe, despite reports of thrombosis after administration of the drug. The regulator recommended warn patients about such risks and indicate them in the description of the drug.
Prior to this, the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine decided to partially or completely suspend in 20 European countries. The reason was the occurrence of thrombosis in the vaccinated. At the same time, the company announced the safety of the vaccine. AstraZeneca explained that a detailed study of the health status of more than 17 million people vaccinated in the EU and the UK with the coronavirus drug showed no data on an increased risk of pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis or thrombocytopenia.
