Canada announces new aid package for Ukraine, while Spain donates additional Leopard 2s

The Ministry of Defense of Canada announced the provision of a new package of military assistance to Ukraine. In addition, Spain will provide us with additional tanks.

Following the tenth meeting of the Ukrainian Defense Contact Group, which took place on March 15, Canadian Defense Minister Anita Anand announced a new assistance package for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Channel 24 writes about this.

What will be included in the new aid package from Canada

  • Canada will provide Ukraine with about 8,000 155 mm munitions,
  • 12 anti-aircraft missiles from the stocks of the Canadian Forces to support air defense systems,
  • Over 1,800 training rounds for 105mm tanks to support the transfer by Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands of Leopard 1 tanks.

In addition, Anita Anand said that Canada has begun deliveries of additional Leopard 2 main battle tanks, which were announced at the end of February. In total, Canada promised to provide Ukraine with 8 Leopard 2 main battle tanks.

All 8 Leopard 2 main battle tanks, as well as the previously announced armored recovery vehicle, support equipment and ammunition donated by Canada, are expected to arrive in Ukraine in the coming weeks. – she said.

Spain to give Ukraine 4 more Leopard 2 tanks

At the same time, Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles confirmed that Ukraine will receive 4 more Leopard 2 tanks in addition to the 6 promised.

According to her, the first 6 tanks will be delivered to Ukraine in the near future. While they are still under renovation.

The minister also announced the delivery of a new batch of TOA M113 armored personnel carriers – the so-called armored tracked vehicles specializing in the transport of combat units.
