Canada has called on the families of diplomats working at the country’s diplomatic mission in Kiev to leave Ukraine. This is reported by The Globe and Mail with reference to sources.
According to a senior government source, spouses and children of Canadian diplomatic staff under the age of 18 are being asked to leave the country. The Globe and Mail does not disclose the name of its informant, “because he is not authorized to speak publicly about the move.”
Earlier, the authorities of Japan, the Netherlands, Australia, Germany, the USA and the UK also called for leaving Ukraine.
Amid reports of the evacuation of embassies, the Pentagon announced the upcoming transfer of 8,5 thousand American troops to Europe to strengthen NATO. The official representative of the military department, John Kirby, clarified that a final decision has not yet been made, but after receiving the appropriate order, the soldiers will arrive at the designated points within five days.
