Captain Kirk flies into space. 90 year old actor

90-year-old Canadian actor William Shatner, famous for his role as Captain Kirk in the early seasons of the cult series “Star Trek” (Star Trek), will go into space for real. The Blue Origin company of Amazon founder and billionaire Jeff Bezos has announced that Shatner will fly aboard the New Shepard suborbital ship on October 12.

“I've heard about space for a long time. And now I will finally see it. Miracles!” – said the actor at a press conference on Tuesday.

In addition to Shatner, there will be three other people on board Blue Origin's second flight.

If the flight is successful, the actor will become the oldest person in space.

Bezos is one of several billionaires in the West that are trying to shape the tourism market for space travel.

The businessman himself successfully flew into space on July 20. Before him, another entrepreneur, the founder of Virgin Galactic, Richard Branson, flew to the border of space.

SpaceX founder Elon Musk is also among the billionaire private space travel enthusiasts. Last year, his Falcon-9 rocket began delivering astronauts to the ISS on the Dragon spacecraft, but the entrepreneur himself has not yet been in space.
