CL qualification live: So it is at Sparta Prague against Rapid
The Viennese are in a good position after their 2-1 home win in the first leg. AS Monaco would wait in the third qualifying round.
Rapid is hoping for an extension of the dream of participating in the Champions League. After the 2-1 win against Sparta Prague last Tuesday, the Viennese will start in a good starting position on Wednesday evening (8.30 p.m. / live ORF Eins) in the second leg at the Letna stadium. There is a lot at stake here, as the promoted team will have a place in the Europa League “consolation competition” if they are eliminated in the 3rd round against top French club AS Monaco.
One of Rapids' season goals would have been successfully ticked off early on. “We have put ourselves in a good position, but that doesn't mean anything for the game,” emphasized Rapid trainer Dietmar Kühbauer before leaving for the Czech Republic.
In the first duel, after a bad start, a double from Christoph Knasmüllner (63rd, 71st) brought about the turning point. “It will be another close, very intense game. We have to muster a huge mentality and we need another show of strength,” said Kühbauer.
