Seleznev suggested that the Russians deliberately set their fighter jets on an American drone in order to blind the intelligence of the United States and Ukraine.

This opinion was expressed by a military observer, former press secretary of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Vladislav Seleznev, informs FREEDOM.

Seleznev suggested that the Russians deliberately set their fighter jets on the drone in order to blind the intelligence community of both the United States and Ukraine as much as possible. Because they thought “something bad.”

“Obviously, the presence of several carriers of sea-based missiles of the Caliber class in the Black Sea, these are the same ships of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, can lead to real launches of the same Caliber class missiles. And in order to hide this very fact as much as possible , so that the Ukrainian air defense would not have enough time to respond, it was for this purpose that a strategic-level drone was destroyed; a drone in service with the US European command,” he said.

The expert called the incident with damage to the drone “a serious precedent.”

“Will there be any serious reaction from our American partners – we see that a demarche has taken place at the level of the diplomatic track, and regarding the demarche at the level of the military track, I think we will find out today, following the results of the 10th Rammstein, to which this will lead to results,” Seleznev says.

The analyst believes that because of the destroyed drone, the US Army will not enter into a direct armed confrontation with Russia. But certain actions aimed at strengthening the military potential of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, such an incident over the Black Sea may push.

Seleznev also answered whether the incident in the Black Sea could be a response to the fact that an American B-52 bomber flew near the Kaliningrad region.

“The current war is a war, in particular, of symbols. It seems to me that the same B-52 training flights make it absolutely clear to rogue countries that they are not afraid. Rogue countries are raising the stakes, they are ready to go to the end – NATO countries are also ready to the end. And it is quite obvious that in a direct armed clash, the rogue countries have no chance to survive in this confrontation. This is definitely indicated by actions, not only statements by European officials and officials from NATO, but also practical actions – large-scale exercises, readiness to counter any provocations from rogue countries. And this is a rational approach,” the expert summed up.

Shooting down an American MQ-9 Reaper drone in the sky over the Black Sea

Recall that on March 14, two Russian Su-27 aircraft made a dangerous interception of an American MQ-9 Reaper drone in the sky over the Black Sea. One of the Russian fighters hit the MQ-9 propeller, so the US military was forced to flood the drone. Before the fall, the US erased all information from the drone.

The Russian ambassador declared his country's unwillingness to have a “confrontation” with the United States and urged American aviation to stay away from the Russian border.

White House spokesman John Kirby called Russia's actions “dangerous, unprofessional and reckless.”

US State Department spokesman Ned Price said the collision between a Russian fighter jet and a US drone was likely unintentional on Russia's part.

NSDC Secretary Alexei Danilov warned that the drone incident showed Putin's willingness to raise the stakes in a conflict with the West.
