The General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine opened a criminal case under the article on attempted murder of two or more persons after the attack on the adviser to the President Volodymyr Zelensky, his close associate Serhiy Shefir. She also promised to disclose the details of the attack immediately after the initial investigation and expert assessment.

Unknown persons attempted to assassinate Sergei Shefir on the morning of September 22. The official's car was shot with automatic weapons, he himself was not injured, but the driver was taken to intensive care with bullet wounds. The motives of the perpetrator are still unclear.

Shefir was appointed as the first assistant to the Ukrainian leader in 2019. Prior to that, he was the artistic director of the 95 Quarter studio, which Zelensky founded.
