Saves in Cyberpunk 2077 can be used to hack a computer or console. The problem was described in a thread on Reddit.
According to platform users, Red Tools Team enthusiasts drew attention to the new problem with the CD Project RED game. Experts have noticed that attackers can inject malicious code into game saves that can harm the device. Initially, it was believed that only computers were vulnerable, but hacking is also possible in the case of the PlayStation 4.
Reddit users clarified that CD Project RED released patch 1.11, but did not bother to fix the save issue. As a measure of protection, gamers suggested installing an unofficial patch of the Cyber Engine Tweaks team on the PC. Other users of the site were recommended to temporarily stop downloading save files from the Internet.
According to gamers, using an infected save file may crash the game. There is also a risk of theft of users' personal data.
At the end of 2020, Reddit users noticed that saves larger than eight megabytes were not working in Cyberpunk 2077. Due to the issue, some gamers are unable to store a certain amount of weapons and inventory. Cyberpunk 2077 was released on December 10th.
