Moscow. June 29. INTERFAX.RU – The American cargo spacecraft Cygnus (“Signus”) of the Northrop Grumman corporation, after a four-month stay in the International Space Station (ISS), undocked from it on Tuesday and went on an autonomous flight. This was reported by the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

The operation to undock the “truck” from the American segment of the station – the Unity module – was carried out at 12:32 pm US East Coast time (19:32 Moscow time).

With the help of the 17-meter Canadarm-2 remote manipulator arm, the ship was retracted from the station to a safe distance and launched into autonomous flight.

The truck took with it the waste weighing about 2.5 tons from the station.

During its autonomous flight, Cygnus will launch five small commercial satellites into orbit.
