The national energy company Ukrenergo announced that it was carrying out repair work to restore power supply to the site of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant that had been de-energized since March 9.

Recall that the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and the exclusion zone were de-energized as a result of shelling by Russian invaders.

At the moment, the Chernobyl site and the exclusion zone are supplied with electricity thanks to the operation of diesel generators.

Energoatom reported that the main problem with the de-energized Chernobyl nuclear power plant is the lack of cooling of spent nuclear fuel. This seriously threatens nuclear safety.
