Danilov answered whether Ukraine is ready to directly participate in the liberation of Georgia and Moldova
Peace and stability in Europe are impossible without the liberation of Georgia and Moldova from Russian forces. Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov said whether Ukraine would participate in this.
In 2008, after the war with Georgia, Russia deployed its troops in South Ossetia and Abkhazia and recognized the independence of these entities. In 1990, both Georgian territories declared independence, which the government did not recognize.
In turn, Russia has been keeping about 2,000 of its troops in Transnistria for more than 20 years. This region of Moldova is actually not controlled by Chisinau since 1992.
Danilov on the liberation of parts of Moldova and Georgia from Russian occupation
The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council noted that Ukraine would not interfere in the liberation of the occupied territories of Georgia and Moldova.
This is what the Georgians should do. Moldovans should do this. If they believe that this territory belongs to them. Or say that this is not your territory, but say publicly to the whole world. This Byzantine style, which for the time being existed in politics, should become a thing of the past,” Danilov said.
According to him, the statements made by some figures who currently occupy certain positions that it is possible to agree on a country in its absence at the negotiating table is a road to nowhere.
“Then the whole world will be completely unbalanced. It is already in an extremely difficult and turbulent state now. And then the situation will be much worse,” the NSDC Secretary summed up.
Danilov called the prospects for Ukraine in the war in the spring-summer
According to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Russia's hopes to “drag out for a very long time” the war against Ukraine will not come true.
Our prospects not only this spring, but also the prospects for the summer and for the near future – this is a movement towards victory. We can't stop. We understand that partners are involved in this,” Danilov said.
He summed up that there is a time for everything and we will definitely liberate all our territories, including Crimea, the Lugansk and Donetsk regions – territories that are now temporarily under Russian occupation.
