Danilov predicts a new Russian offensive before February 24: where the occupiers plan to invade

Aleksey Danilov believes that Russia may launch a new wave of full-scale offensive in Donbas before February 24th. The Russians are also amassing troops in the Zaporozhye region.

The Russian authorities like to stick to dates. So, on the “anniversary” of the full-scale invasion, the occupiers are preparing a new wave of offensive.

In what areas are the Russians planning an offensive

The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council noted that the Ukrainian side has an understanding in which areas the Russian forces are planning their offensive. First of all, they are talking about the Donbass.

Now they are preparing for maximum activation, given that they are people from the Soviet “scoop”. And they believe that if there is any anniversary, they must have some achievement. There is no secret here that they are preparing for a new wave (offensive – ed.) until February 24, he said.

Danilov clarified that, first of all, the Russian military has tasks regarding the Donetsk and Lugansk regions – they want to completely reach the borders of these regions.

What is the situation in Zaporozhye

Apart from preparing for a second full-scale invasion of the Donbass, the Russians are testing the defense capability of the Ukrainian troops in Zaporozhye. Now there is some accumulation of enemy troops in the Zaporozhye region.

They have been trying for a week now to understand what is happening in the Zaporizhia direction in terms of defense. Now there is some accumulation of troops. We know this, we understand what is happening in the Russian Federation on this matter, – explained the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.

Russia is preparing a new big invasion of Ukraine

  • Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the reserve Roman Svitan said that in some areas the Russians are carrying out preparatory work for a likely spring offensive. Moreover, in certain areas, the invaders are already gradually starting it.
  • Earlier, NSDC Secretary Alexei Danilov suggested that the Russians might launch a new offensive in February-March. Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the offensive of the invaders can be expected from any side. It is possible that the invaders will try to make a large-scale attack in the South or East.
  • The American Institute for the Study of War suggests 3 options for the Russian army in 2023. These are: either a large-scale attack from the Lugansk region, or a concentration on the defense of the occupied territories, or an offensive from Belarus. However, the last option is unlikely.
