Florida Governor and Republican Party member Ron DeSantis said that endless assistance to Ukraine is not in the interests of the United States. There was a split among the Republicans: some support Ukraine, while others are “Trumpists”.

Oleg Rybachuk, the head of the analytical and advocacy organization “Center for Joint Actions”, spoke about this on the air of Channel 24 . According to him, in the United States, the majority supports Ukraine, so some Republican voters may leave because of such statements made by DeSantis and others.

Split among Republicans

Rybarchuk noted that the Republican Party of the United States had a split. Among the members of the party there are allies of Ukraine who have no idea how to support Russia, but there are supporters of the rhetoric of Donald Trump.

There is a part of “trumpists”. Young and cynical DeSantis is such a reincarnation of Trump, only he is smarter and younger. Some American experts say that he climbed into Trump's garden to take away some of his voters, he said.

The head of the Center for Joint Action think-tank is convinced that some of the Republican voters may leave because of such statements made by DeSantis and others.

According to Oleg Rybachuk, the split among the Republicans is a big motivation for the administration of US President Joe Biden not to delay providing Ukraine with the necessary weapons.

“You also need to decide on the ultimate goal. If the ultimate goal is victory, then it is in their domestic political interests to achieve it this year, and not postpone it until next year, when an active campaign (presidential – Channel 24) will already begin,” the expert believes.

USA supports Ukraine

According to Rybarchuk, the majority in the United States supports Ukraine. He recalled going to Florida to speak at a conference at an international institute in front of a Hispanic audience.

“I was surprised how many people found it necessary to come up and express their support. On average, the United States sympathizes with the Ukrainians, they know that we have a war, who attacked us and want to support us. This is important for politics,” he added.

• Former US President Donald Trump said that in Biden's place he would have made agreements with Russia. The politician says that he “would allow” to occupy part of Ukraine.

• Earlier, Trump said that he could solve the war in Ukraine in 24 hours by arranging personal negotiations between Zelensky and Putin. He also boasted that he allegedly “can prevent” the outbreak of a third world war, because he “gets along well” with Putin.
