There are still about 30 thousand inhabitants in Lisichansk, but the big problem is that when we come to them in bomb shelters and beg them to leave, people refuse to leave their homes.
About this Sergei Gaidai, the head of the Lugansk OVA, told Channel 24. He also said that some of the locals are afraid to go, but some think that it will pass.
“But when powerful shelling begins and the dead arrive at a neighboring house or on the street for days, we cannot take away because of heavy shelling – they still decide to evacuate and look for opportunities,” says Gaidai.
Therefore, I emphasize again, do not hesitate, because we do not know how much more time do we have to take everyone out. We will do this as long as we have such an opportunity,” summed up the head of the Luhansk OVA.
