Doctors fought for their lives for more than a week: a Polish volunteer died, wounded near Bakhmut

A Polish volunteer was killed in the war between Russia and Ukraine. He was mortally wounded while providing humanitarian aid near Bakhmut. Despite the struggle of doctors, it was not possible to save him.

Marek, a volunteer of the “Nehemiasz” aid initiative, died from enemy shelling. According to the organization, he has been helping Ukrainians since the fall of 2022.

The volunteer was immediately evacuated

According to available information, he, along with a colleague and 4 civilians, came under fire from the invaders on March 16. Volunteers were just providing humanitarian assistance on the route Konstantinovka – Chasov Yar.

Despite the instant evacuation and the high professionalism of Ukrainian doctors, who fought for their lives during several hours of operations, Marek died today (March 27 – Channel 24) in the morning in a clinic in Kiev, the organization said.

Ambassador confirmed the information about the injuries

It should be noted that the Ambassador of Poland in Kyiv, Bartosz Cichocki, confirmed the information about the wounding of a volunteer. On March 18, Advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko noted that two volunteers from Poland had suffered at the hands of the enemy.

A Russian rocket hit a bus of Polish volunteers who were carrying humanitarian aid to the city of Chasov Yar. Two volunteers were injured, he said.

True, Tsikhotsky confirmed the injury of only one citizen of his country. He noted that he is already receiving medical assistance. True, no more details were announced.

According to the aid initiative “Nehemiasz”, volunteers from Poznań. As of March 18, it was reported that one of them was in a lighter condition, and the second, who died, was in a stable but serious condition.

It should be noted that on March 26 it became known that the number of victims as a result of an attack on high-rise buildings in Zaporozhye increased. The doctors, unfortunately, failed to save the 19-year-old boy who died in the hospital.
