Does injury even throw Thiem out of the top 30 in the world?

Dominic Thiem

Dominic Thiem has to end the tennis season early, the Lower Austrian is threatened with a drastic fall in the ATP rankings.

“I'm so sorry,” Thiem wrote on Facebook and explained that the season was over for him. His wrist injury still takes longer to heal completely.

The injury will not be the only setback for Thiem. The current number six in the world will crash far in the rankings.

In spring, the Lower Austrian skipped seven weeks due to motivation problems and minor injuries, now it is completely over for 2021.

Thiem will lose almost 4,000 points by the end of the year, slipping out of the top 10, and even the top 15 in the world could be tight.

Thiem plans to fully return to the tour business in January 2022, the Australian Open will be incredibly important, because then the 1,200 points from the 2020 final will be eliminated.

If Thiem retires early, he even threatens to drop out of the top 30 in the world.
