The founder of the Telegram messenger Pavel Durov arranged a poll on his channel in which he invited users to choose the “best” of the possible options: 1. Suspend Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram for several hours, or 2. Complete cessation of Telegram in Russia.
At the time of this writing, 86% of users voted for the first option, 14% for the second.
Durov conducted a similar survey on September 30. Then he offered users to choose between a complete ban on Telegram and the suspension of campaign bots during the voting in the elections to the State Duma.
Then, in the comments, Durov talked to users and answered their questions. However, this time the ability to comment on the poll is disabled.
Durov launched a new poll after a global outage occurred in the work of Facebook and WhatsApp and Instagram, which has been going on for several hours. Users all over the world complain about the operation of applications of these services, their sites, lack of connections to the server, and other problems. The companies have apologized and said they are working on troubleshooting.
Against this background, the fortune of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg fell by more than $ 6 billion, and the company's shares fell by 5%.
In addition, on October 4, complaints were received about disruptions in the work of Twitter, TikTok, Snapchat, Facebook Messenger, as well as services of Google and Amazon. Telegram also reported about the problems caused by the large influx of users.
