Earthquake hits Russian resort towns: authorities warn of danger
Strong tremors were felt by residents of a number of settlements of the Caucasian Mineralnye Vody.
In On April 1, an earthquake was recorded in Russia near the resort of Pyatigorsk. However, tremors were also felt in other cities.
This was reported at the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center.
An earthquake of magnitude 4.3 was recorded 99 km northeast of Pyatigorsk. The epicenter of the tremors lay at a depth of 15 km.
Residents of Pyatigorsk, located at the foot of the Caucasus Mountains, as well as Zheleznovodsk felt these earth vibrations. This was reported by the heads of the cities Dmitry Voroshilov and Yevgeny Bakulin . Note that in Zheleznovodsk the earthquake was somewhat stronger – with a magnitude of 4.6.
“So far, there are no reports of damage and casualties from territorial services and EDDS (Unified Duty Dispatch Service – ed.). There are no aftershocks,” Voroshilov wrote on the Web.
To his message, he added instructions on what to do in the event of an earthquake.
At the same time, Bakulin said that EDDS received 16 phone calls regarding the earthquake. He recommended the residents of the city to leave the buildings in case of repeated shocks.
At the same time, the head of the city of Essentuki, Alexander Nekristov, said that there was no destruction or damage either.
Recall that in early March, a scientist from the Netherlands Frank Hougerbits, who predicted devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, said that Russia would suffer from a “mega-earthquake”.
