Electricity tariffs will not increase from April 1: how long has the grace period been extended

At a government meeting, they agreed to extend the grace period for electricity prices. The program was supposed to end on April 1st.

This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmihal. The grace period will be extended for another month.

Electricity prices will remain unchanged by the end of the heating season

Denis Shmigal stressed that in the difficult economic situation, the government continues to support people, in particular, by raising pensions, maintaining subsidies and paying social benefits. In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers will extend the grace period for electricity prices.

On April 1, we had to end a special period with preferential prices for electricity. Therefore, today the Government decides to extend it. The special duty mechanism will continue to operate until April 30 this year. That is, the price of electricity, as we promised, will remain unchanged until the end of the heating season,” Shmihal emphasized.

By how much can the cost of electricity increase after April 30

There are currently two electricity tariffs for households in Ukraine:

  • if the monthly consumption is less than 250 kilowatt-hours, then the tariff is UAH 1.44;
  • if more than 250 kilowatts – 1.68 hryvnia.

According to the forecasts of various experts, the cost of light for the population can rise in price by about two times – from 1.44 to about 2.5 – 2.7 hryvnia per kilowatt-hour. However, the final tariffs will be determined later.
