Adobe, primarily known for Photoshop and Flash Player, has posted a fresh post on its blog. In it, the company's designer Paul D. Hunt explained how emoticons can be useful for online communication.
According to him, their use is able to establish deeper contact between the interlocutors. So, for example, because of the more emotional reaction to images, people are better “read” the tone of voice, gestures and reactions from emoticons, the message says.
At the same time, emoji can add additional positive emotions to gray communication on the Internet.
A recent study by Adobe also found that more than 50% of those surveyed feel much more comfortable in correspondence that uses emoticons. A similar number of people said that their use had a positive effect on mental health.
