Ukraine wants to update the entire fleet of Soviet aircraft. They are already morally and physically obsolete. And they work only thanks to Ukrainian pilots.

Yuriy Ignat, the speaker of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said that these Soviet aircraft are already on the verge of possibility. Ukraine needs Western-made aircraft.

Ignat noted that the F-16 has been talked about since the first days. At the same time, Ukraine is talking about other types of aircraft. The speaker of the Air Force stressed that no one would immediately provide the Ukrainian side with 5 brigades. They would be enough to protect Ukraine in the future.

At the same time, Ukraine will be able to receive such a number of aircraft only gradually. If a final decision is made, things could start with a few squadrons. Ukraine is looking forward to a positive decision on the F-16. At the same time, everyone understands that at the initial stage, Ukraine will not receive as many aircraft as it would like.

Ignat added that now there are certain signals about the aviation Rammstein. At the same time, it is difficult to say whether a decision will be made.

The negotiation process on aircraft continues

Mikhail Podoliak said that the negotiation process is currently ongoing to provide aircraft to Ukraine.
