Facebook banned Taliban-related content
The American company Facebook announced a ban on its platforms of content related to the extremist Taliban movement (banned in the Russian Federation), reports CNBC.
“The Taliban are recognized as a terrorist organization under US law, and we have banned them from using our services in accordance with our policy on dangerous organizations,” a company spokesman said.
Now all accounts maintained by or on behalf of the Taliban, as well as profiles with statements in support of them, will be blocked. The corresponding restrictions also apply to Instagram and the WhatsApp messenger.
According to the channel's interlocutor, members of a special group are following posts, pictures and videos on social networks, they are assisted by experts on Afghanistan, in particular, native speakers of the Dari and Pashto languages.
