Fake employment allegations against the new ÖFB boss

Milletich

Gerhard Milletich is to be elected as the new ÖFB President on Sunday. Four days before that, he commented on the allegations that were circulating.

Specifically, the 65-year-old, who is the managing director of Bohmann-Verlag, is accused of being a bogus job, at least the “Salzburger Nachrichten” confronted the designated successor of ÖFB President Leo Windtner at the head of the red-white-red football association with the allegations.

According to this, the long-time Burgenland association president, in his function as chairman of the second division Parndorf, should have employed short-term coach Andreas Heraf during its term of office from December 2007 to March 2008 not with the club, but with Bohmann-Verlag. Critics are now accusing Milletich of a sham employment of the incumbent Ried trainer.

The 65-year-old contradicts this in the report. “I've also heard these rumors about myself. Everything went correctly when I was in Parndorf. Employing coach Heraf at my publishing house was legal under the rules of the time,” said the 65-year-old.

It is doubtful, however, whether all powerful sovereigns see it that way. At least there is headwind from the Salzburg association boss. “If these rumors are true, then Salzburg will think twice about whether it can be true for Gerhard Milletich,” said state boss Herbert Hübel. Other regional associations could follow the example.

With that, the 65-year-old's freestyle as ÖFB president would suddenly no longer be set in stone. At the general meeting on Sunday in Velden, the election of the new association boss is due. Milletich is the only candidate. Each regional association has one vote, the Bundesliga four votes. A simple majority is enough to be elected. But suddenly it could no longer be safe …
