Finland supported the transfer of Leopard tanks to Ukraine, but there is a condition
Recently, the proposal to provide Ukraine with modern tanks to fight the invaders, in particular, the German Leopard, has been heard more and more often in the international arena. Now another country has supported this idea.
Thus, Finnish President Sauli Niinistö said that his country is not averse to transferring these weapons to Ukraine. However, there is a condition for this.
What condition must be met
According to the President of Finland, for such a transfer it is necessary to create an appropriate common European project. It should be sent to help Ukraine.
If a common European project of assistance to Ukraine is created, Finland's contribution will also be required, said Sauli Niinistö.
The president also noted that even with such a joint project, his state would not provide Ukraine with a significant number of tanks. This is because Finland must also take care of its own security, because:
- its borders also border on a terrorist country,
- it is not yet a member of NATO.
A company of Leopard tanks will be handed over by Poland
It should be noted that on January 11, Polish President Andrzej Duda said that his country was ready to transfer a company of Leopard 2 tanks to us. He would do this within the framework of an international coalition.
Poland, within the framework of the international coalition, will transfer Leopard tanks to Ukraine, Duda said.
However, this coalition has yet to be formed. “First, we need to build an international coalition. And we have decided to form this international coalition,” Andrzej Duda said.
The President of Poland hopes that other countries will also provide Ukraine with Leopard tanks and other types that will strengthen the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Tanks Leopard 2 for Ukraine: what is known
- Note that the tank company, which Andrzej Duda spoke about, has about 10 tanks. So, in the Armed Forces of Ukraine it consists of ten tanks, but according to NATO standards – out of 14. So exactly how many tanks Warsaw will send is still unknown.
- Military analyst Aleksey Getman said that the Leopard 2 tanks will perfectly enhance the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in further counteroffensives, because the German Leopards are head and shoulders above the Russian ones in terms of firing range, accuracy, quality, maneuverability, etc.
- In addition to transferring modern tanks, Poland also intends to put pressure on other Western partners to also transfer them to Ukraine. This is because the defeat of Ukraine will mean the defeat of Poland, because Russia will not stop at our state.
