Finland will provide Ukraine with heavy weapons and ammunition, but will announce tanks later

Finland announced new military aid to Ukraine worth more than 400 million euros on January 20. However, there are no Leopard 2 heavy tanks.

The Finnish Ministry of Defense said that Leopard could be sent if there is an agreement with the allies. There are 200 such tanks in service with the country.

When the Leopard 2 can be announced

According to special adviser to the Minister of Defense of Finland, Moika Pinnonen, the decision on the donation of Leopard 2 tanks will be made separately. This may come after discussions with the Allies at Ramstein Air Base on January 20 in Germany.

I can tell you that this package does not include Leopard tanks. It consists of heavy weapons and ammunition, Pinnonen said.

Ukraine Assistance Agreement

Finland is talking about the transfer of tanks, as Sweden has agreed to help quickly replace the transferred equipment in case of a crisis. The Ministers of Defense of Finland and Sweden must sign a statement of support for Ukraine at the Ramstein meeting.

According to this agreement, Finland supplies Ukraine with military equipment, and Sweden is ready to support Finland if there is a threat.< /p>
