The Federal Security Service (FSB) of the Russian Federation named the official cause of the explosion and fire, which on Thursday, March 16, engulfed the buildings of the border control of the FSB in the Rostov region.

According to Russian Telegram channels, citing an official statement from the FSB, the incident occurred as a result of the fire of fuel and lubricants in the garage.

“At 12.20 (i.e. at 11:20 Kyiv time – TSN.ua ) in the repair shop of the garage box of the PU apparatus of the FSB of Russia in the Rostov region, an ignition of fuels and lubricants occurred, which caused an explosion and partial destruction of the building,” the statement reads. message.

The Russian special service confirmed that there were victims as a result of the emergency in Rostov-on-Don.

Earlier, the governor of the Rostov region said that, according to preliminary information, the main cause was the short circuit of the electrical wiring. A spark ignited a flame, the fire spread and caused explosions of containers with fuel and lubricants.

The fire spread over an area of 800 square meters, resulting in the collapse of two walls.

According to TASS, one person died and two others were injured.

As previously reported, in the Russian Rostov-on-Don, the building of the FSB Border Guard Service caught fire. Before the incident, an explosion was heard.
