From air defense and drones to spare parts: Britain spoke about multimillion-dollar assistance to Ukraine
Ukraine will receive multi-million aid from an international fund. Strengthening the defense capabilities of Ukraine includes drones, ammunition, air defense and electronic warfare.
Ukraine will receive first aid from the International Fund's (IFU) multi-million dollar funding package. Spare parts for tanks will also help.
Ukraine will receive assistance for 200 million pounds sterling
The first package of equipment was agreed upon by the UK, the Netherlands, Norway , Sweden and Denmark. Together with Iceland and Lithuania, these partners have contributed a total of over £520 million to the fund.
With an expected cost of over £200 million, the first package will include vital capabilities in the form of artillery ammunition, maritime reconnaissance, surveillance and reconnaissance, and spare parts for equipment, including current Ukrainian tanks.
The first IFU support package involved both UK and international industry vendors to meet Ukraine's priorities in providing lethal and non-lethal equipment, with over 40 countries submitting over 1,500 proposals in 11 areas of opportunity.
About the assistance was announced on February 15 during a meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels, where British Defense Minister Ben Wallace was present.
This set of equipment will provide a significant increase in the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and defend your country. Wallace said.
Britain reports aid to Ukraine
- On a bilateral basis, the UK supported Ukraine with military aid in the amount of 2.3 billion pounds sterling in 2022.
- The British government has committed to equal or exceed this amount in 2023.
- From the beginning of 2023, the UK has already pledged to provide Ukraine with a squadron of 14 Challenger 2 main battle tanks , including ammunition and spare parts, AS90 self-propelled artillery mounts to increase the range of Ukraine and hundreds of air defense missiles.
