Gunzburg: Revaccination with “Sputnik Light” prolongs immunity to COVID-19 for at least six months
Revaccination with a single-component vaccine “Sputnik Light” six months later prolongs immunity to coronavirus for at least another six months. Such data were announced during the briefing by the head of the Center. Gamalei Alexander Gunzburg, reports TASS.
According to him, additional vaccination with the second component of Sputnik V significantly raises the level of immunity against coronavirus infection.
“And in the range from 300 to 500 bounding antibody units (BAU), boosting only with Sputnik Lite is enough. And, accordingly, this is the range most often found after six months of using “Sputnik V”, – said the scientist.
He added that for citizens vaccinated with Sputnik V, using Sputnik Light six months after receiving the second dose of the drug is a reliable way to extend their protection for another six to seven months. This statement is based on an analysis of data from more than four thousand vaccinated Muscovites, said Gunzburg.
Earlier it became known that the Ministry of Health of Russia allowed clinical trials of a nasal vaccine against COVID-19, developed by the Gamaleya Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology.
